REALKATHON2019 Terms & Conditions

  1. These Terms and conditions (‘Terms’) apply to the participation of an individual or team in the Realkathon 2019 to be held from Tuesday 17 September 2019 to Friday 20 September 2019.
  2. By registering for the Hackathon, you agree that You understand these Terms and agree to be bound by these Terms, whether you are an Individual Participant or Team Participant
  3. The Hackathon is organized and supported by Pertinence Limited and ETRAC and Data First respectively
  4. You agree that if you do not comply with all of these Terms and Conditions, you may be disqualified from involvement in the Hackathon and/or from having Your Entry considered.
  5. Pertinence Limited reserves the right to change these Terms at any time without prior notice or to cancel, modify or suspend the Hackathon at its sole discretion.
  6. If the Hackathon is cancelled, Pertinence Limited may, but is not obliged to, select a winning Entry from those submitted before the Hackathon is cancelled.
  7. Be original, solely developed as part of the Hackathon and not developed in the course of employment for a third party.
  8. Be developed by the Participant/s who submit the entry,
  9. Be in accordance with these Terms and in response to the Realkathon 2019 Brief;
  10. Not contain any third-party software, other than open source software, or off-the shelf development tool kit within the terms of licenses held by the participants that have developed the Entry, or as otherwise disclosed in writing to Pertinence Limited in the course of the Hackathon;
  11. Not have already been submitted in connection with any other application process, competition or request for funding, or otherwise disclosed to any other third parties, unless disclosed in writing to Pertinence Limited before the commencement of the Hackathon;
  12. Entries will be judged on the following criteria:
    • Functionality
    • Innovation
    • Accessibility and inclusivity
    • User Experience
    • Product Execution
    • Potential for Commercialization
    • Industry Knowledge
  13. “Intellectual Property Rights” means ownership rights in ideas, inventions, discoveries, improvements, modifications, enhancements, trade secrets, designs, business models, software and code, derivatives, know-how, processes, methodologies, technical information, data, test results, information, concepts, and works of authorship, whether patentable or otherwise protectable under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria or any other jurisdiction, or not and whether reduced to practice or not, and all related intellectual property, including, but not limited to patents and patent applications (including, but not limited to, all reissues, continuations, continuations-in-part, revisions, extensions, divisionals, designs, and reexaminations thereof), copyrights, mask works, trademarks, trade secrets, and other forms of intellectual property protections related thereto, including all applications, certifications, and registrations therefore.
  14. Pertinence Limited reserves the right to intellectual property to all top 10 shortlisted entries
  15. You agree to behave in a professional, respectful, non-disruptive and appropriate manner, including taking all reasonable care and responsibility for your own health and safety and that of others at all times while participating in the Hackathon, including when travelling to and from the Event.
  16. You agree that you are responsible for making appropriate travel arrangements when coming for the Hackathon.
  17. You agree that you will not consume alcohol if you are under the age of 18 years old during the Hackathon.
  18. You agree that you are responsible for your wellbeing, including ensuring that you get sufficient rest and nutrition during the Hackathon. However, if you have concerns about your health, safety or welfare at any time during the Hackathon, you may withdraw from the Hackathon at any time. Please notify the Hackathon organizers if you decide to withdraw from hackathon
